Location
1788 Mangorei Road, Mangorei 4371, New Zealand - 550 m above sea level, on the road that climbs towards Mount Taranaki.
The retreat sits in the rural settlement of Mangorei, in the hills between New Plymouth and Egmont National Park. The drive into the centre of New Plymouth takes around twenty minutes, yet the property itself feels completely rural, surrounded by native bush, birdsong and open views over the coastline and the mountain.
The Pouakai track begins 500 m up the road, leading past the Pouakai and Holly huts and on to the North Egmont visitor centre. It is the route to the famous Pouakai Tarn reflection of Mount Taranaki, and one of the most popular walks the mountain offers. Guests who want to walk it can be picked up or dropped off at the visitor centre free of charge, and there are further nature walks on and around the property itself.
